Our Life Skills Autism Academy is seeking an exceptional Center-Based Behavior Technician to join our team in Greenwood, IN. As a Behavior Technician, you'll play a vital role in helping children develop critical skills such as language, communication, social, and school readiness behaviors.

As a Center-Based Behavior Technician, you'll be an integral part of our team, working directly with children, families, and caregivers to implement individualized treatment plans and promote positive behavioral change.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide direct client care in 1:1 and group settings, utilizing a combination of intensive teaching and natural environment training.
  • Follow prescribed behavioral skill acquisition and behavior reduction protocols as outlined in client's individualized treatment plan, built by our Board Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA).
  • Collect, record, and summarize data on observable client behavior, ensuring accurate and timely documentation.
  • Assist with parent and caregiver training, supporting the implementation of client's individualized treatment plan and behavior reduction protocols.
  • Effectively communicate with parents and caregivers regarding client progress, as instructed by BCBA.
  • Utilize safe and appropriate procedures when working with clients, reporting all critical incidents and safety concerns.
  • Maintain a clean, safe, and organized work and therapy environment.
  • Assist BCBA in preparation of client materials, behavior reduction assessments, and skills acquisition.

Essential Qualifications, Skills, and Knowledge

To succeed as a Center-Based Behavior Technician, you'll need:

  • Current certification as a Behavior Technician (BT) issued by the Behavior Analyst Certification Board (BACB), or willingness to complete a 40-hour training course and sit for RBT competency exam within 45 days of employment.
  • Minimum of a High School Diploma or GED.
  • Reliable transportation, with proof of driver's license and valid car insurance (in some cases).
  • At least 18 years of age.
  • Willingness to obtain CPR and First Aid certification, along with a TB test (if not completed within the past year).
  • Ability to physically perform the job requirements, including getting down on the floor, standing up multiple times, lifting up to 50lbs, and running/moving quickly when necessary.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to maintain emotional control in challenging situations.
  • Strong attention to detail, with the ability to follow detailed instructions and perform repetitive tasks with precision.
  • Proficiency in using digital applications and recording data on mobile devices.
  • Cultural competency, flexibility, and open-mindedness.

Preferred Qualifications

While not required, the following experiences and skills are highly valued:

  • Previous experience as a Behavioral Technician, working with children with autism or other learning disabilities.
  • Experience as a Teacher's Aid, Tutor, CNA, Caregiver, or Home Health Aide.
