Job Summary

The Schwob Memorial Library at Columbus State University is looking for an exceptional candidate to lead the Music Library and serve as an Assistant Professor and Music Librarian. As a key member of our library faculty, you will be responsible for the administration of the Music Library, providing general public service activities, and fostering a strong liaison between CSU Libraries and the Schwob School of Music. Key Responsibilities

  • Plan, develop, and coordinate the overall operation, services, and resources for the Music Library
  • Oversee collection development, ensuring a diverse and relevant selection of music materials
  • Supervise library staff, providing guidance and support to ensure exceptional service delivery
  • Serve as a liaison between CSU Libraries and the Schwob School of Music, fostering collaboration and promoting library services
  • Provide reference and research assistance, as well as bibliographic instruction, to students and faculty
  • Execute all public services activities, including outreach to Music faculty and students
  • Contribute to the overall management of the CSU Libraries as a member of the library faculty
  • Actively participate in professional organizations on the local, state, regional, or national level
  • Engage in related service activities, including community and professional outreach

Essential Qualifications

To be considered for this position, you must possess the following essential qualifications:

  • An ALA-accredited MLS / MLIS degree
  • A strong background in music, with familiarity with one or more foreign languages
  • Experience overseeing library operations, with a focus on music materials
  • Familiarity with technical services, especially in relation to music materials
  • Strong communication, interpersonal, organizational, creativity, and analytical/problem-solving skills

Preferred Qualifications

While not required, the following qualifications are preferred:

  • A Master's degree in a relevant field
  • Previous experience as a music librarian or in a related field
  • Knowledge of music cataloging and classification systems
  • Experience with library technology, including integrated library systems and digital repositories

Compensation, Perks, and Benefits

The annualized hiring salary range for this position is $60,000 - $65,000. In addition to a competitive salary, we offer a range of benefits, including:
