Job Overview and Responsibilities

The Instructional Design and Technology Specialist will play a crucial role in supporting the growth of SCS's online programs by designing and developing engaging and interactive online courses, as well as advancing the quality of course design, development, and implementation. The successful candidate will work closely with faculty, staff, and other stakeholders to ensure the timely launch of new programs, efficient operations, and high-quality online education that meets the university's standards.

  • Design and develop online courses and programs that incorporate best practices in instructional design, online pedagogy, and learning theory
  • Collaborate with faculty and subject matter experts to create engaging and interactive learning experiences
  • Conduct needs analysis and evaluation to inform the design and development of online courses and programs
  • Develop design documents, storyboards, and other materials to support the creation of online courses and programs
  • Stay up-to-date with emerging technologies and instructional strategies to advance course development, faculty teaching, and student learning
  • Provide guidance and support to faculty and staff on the use of educational technology and online pedagogy

Requirements and Qualifications

The ideal candidate will have a Master's degree in Instructional Design, Instructional Technology, Curriculum and Instruction, or a related field, as well as 5-7 years of experience working in higher education as an instructional developer. The candidate should have excellent understanding of instructional design principles, online pedagogy, learning theory, and emerging technologies, as well as experience applying this knowledge to real-world projects.

  • Master's degree in Instructional Design, Instructional Technology, Curriculum and Instruction, or a related field
  • 5-7 years of experience working in higher education as an instructional developer
  • Excellent understanding of instructional design principles, online pedagogy, learning theory, and emerging technologies
  • Experience applying instructional design principles and online pedagogy to real-world projects
  • Strong learning design abilities and visual design sense
  • Ability to design and develop engaging and interactive online courses

Preferred Qualifications and Skills

The preferred candidate will have demonstrated experience and thorough knowledge in creating media-based learning content, as well as strong working knowledge of video, interactive video, multimedia, and course authoring software. The candidate should also have experience working with web conferencing, screen-casting, and other multimedia applications, as well as skills in web technologies such as HTML, XHTML, JavaScript, and CSS.

  • Demonstrated experience and thorough knowledge in creating media-based learning content
  • Strong working knowledge of video, interactive video, multimedia, and course authoring software
