Job Overview

We are looking for a Part-Time Learning Assistant to provide essential support to our Biology courses during the 2023-2024 academic year. Under the supervision of Jeremy Harper, you will play a crucial role in helping faculty organize coursework, explaining complex biology concepts to students, and leading office hours and review sessions. Key Responsibilities

  • Assist faculty in organizing and preparing coursework materials for Biology classes.
  • Provide individual and group support to students, explaining biology concepts and helping with assignments and study materials.
  • Hold office hours and/or review sessions to reinforce student understanding and address questions and concerns.
  • Collaborate with teaching faculty to develop and implement effective teaching strategies and materials.

Essential and Preferred Qualifications

To be considered for this role, you should meet the following essential qualifications:

  • Be a full-time registered Penn State student or have a strong academic background in Biology or a related field.
  • Have excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to explain complex concepts clearly and patiently.
  • Be highly organized and able to work independently, with a strong attention to detail and ability to meet deadlines.
  • Have experience in tutoring, teaching, or mentoring, preferably in a biology or science context.
