Role Overview

As a Secondary Special Education Teacher at the Doña Ana County Detention Center, you will be responsible for providing high-quality educational services to middle school and high school students who are detained at the center. Essential Qualifications

To be considered for this position, you must possess the following essential qualifications:

  • A Bachelor's and/or Master's degree in education from a regionally accredited college or university
  • A valid New Mexico Public Education Department (PED) Teaching License
  • A valid New Mexico Public Education Department (PED) Special Education License
  • A recommendation from your degree-granting institution and/or previous employing institution

Preferred Qualifications

While not essential, the following qualifications are preferred:

  • Experience working with students with special needs, particularly in a detention center or alternative education setting
  • Knowledge of trauma-informed practices and restorative justice approaches
  • Experience with technology integration and online learning platforms
  • Bilingual or multilingual skills, particularly in Spanish
