We are now seeking an experienced and skilled Chemistry Content Developer to join our team on a contract basis. As a Chemistry Content Developer, you will play a crucial role in ensuring that our digital chemistry products are accurate, pedagogically sound, and effective in testing students' understanding and application of chemistry concepts.

Role Overview

This is a remote contract position, offering the flexibility to work from anywhere in the US. You will be employed through Headway consulting firm and will be an integral part of our team, working closely with other contractors and stakeholders to develop and review digital content. The ideal candidate will have a strong knowledge base in chemistry, experience teaching general chemistry, and the ability to write clear, engaging questions and solutions that test students' understanding and application of concepts.

Key Responsibilities

  • Writing clear, engaging questions that test students' understanding and application of chemistry concepts, including conceptual questions that anticipate common student errors and misconceptions.
  • Authoring hints, solutions, and feedback that provide insightful diagnosis of student mistakes and coach students toward mastery, ensuring that students receive constructive feedback that helps them improve their understanding of chemistry concepts.
  • Creating complete and concise solutions to questions, including step-by-step explanations and examples that illustrate key concepts and principles.
  • Inputting questions, hints, solutions, and feedback into our software, ensuring that all content is accurate, up-to-date, and easily accessible to students and instructors.
  • Providing clear, concise feedback to other contractors to correct errors of content, spelling, grammar, and/or pedagogy, helping to ensure that our digital content meets the highest standards of quality and accuracy.
  • Reviewing digital content for accuracy, including reviewing digital worksheets and other educational materials to ensure that they are accurate, complete, and effective in testing students' understanding of chemistry concepts.

Essential Qualifications

To be successful in this role, you will need to have:

  • A strong knowledge base in chemistry, including a deep understanding of key concepts, principles, and theories.
  • Experience teaching general chemistry, including experience developing and delivering instructional materials, assessing student learning, and providing feedback and support to students.
  • Ability to write conceptual questions that test students' understanding and application of chemistry concepts, including questions that anticipate common student errors and misconceptions.
  • Experience writing original homework and/or test questions, including experience developing assessments that measure student learning and understanding.
  • Strong computer skills, including the ability to quickly learn new products and technology, such as our content management system and other digital tools.
  • Recent experience teaching chemistry and tutoring for higher education, including experience working with students at the undergraduate and graduate levels.

Preferred Qualifications

While not essential, the following qualifications are preferred:

  • MS or PhD in Chemistry, or PhD in progress, including a strong academic background in chemistry and a deep understanding of key concepts, principles, and theories.
  • Experience working with digital learning materials, including experience developing and reviewing online courses, tutorials, and other educational resources.
  • Experience with instructional design principles and practices, including experience developing instructional materials that are aligned with learning objectives and outcomes.
  • Strong understanding of pedagogical principles and practices, including experience developing instructional materials that are effective in promoting student learning and understanding.

  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team, including experience collaborating with other contractors, stakeholders, and team members to develop and review digital content.
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to manage multiple tasks and deadlines, including experience working in a fast-paced environment and meeting tight deadlines.
  • Ability to learn new products and technology quickly, including experience with content management systems, digital tools, and other software applications.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, including experience analyzing data, identifying trends and patterns, and developing solutions to complex problems.

Compensation, Perks, and Benefits
