Job Overview and Key Responsibilities

As an Intern in the Government Affairs Department, you will have the opportunity to work closely with our team to support the development and implementation of our government affairs strategy. Your key responsibilities will include:

  • Assisting in the preparation of presentations and reports to help inform and shape our government affairs efforts
  • Participating in the planning and execution of department functions, including events and meetings with government officials and industry stakeholders
  • Conducting extensive research and analysis on transportation policy and other issues relevant to the aviation industry, and compiling and reporting on data to aid the Government Affairs staff
  • Supporting the Government Affairs team in promoting and monitoring public policy that impacts Delta and the aviation industry
  • Practicing safety-conscious behaviors in all operational processes and procedures, and prioritizing the safety and security of self, others, and personal data

Minimum Qualifications

To be considered for this role, you must:

  • Be enrolled in an accredited undergraduate program at a college and/or university
  • Be detail-oriented, able to communicate effectively and legibly with all levels of personnel, and very organized
  • Have a demonstrated ability with information gathering, data collection, problem solving, and innovation/creativity
  • Have working knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
  • Demonstrate that privacy is a priority when handling personal data
  • Be adaptable and able to function in a fast-paced work environment with competing priorities
  • Convey a professional image to all levels of employees
  • Possess a high school diploma, GED, or high school equivalency, and be at least 18 years of age with authorization to work in the United States

Preferred Qualifications

While not required, the following qualifications will give you a competitive edge in the application process:

  • Successful problem solver and critical thinker, with the ability to work well independently with minimal supervision
  • Strong team player, detail-oriented, and able to perform well under pressure
