Job Overview
We are seeking an experienced IT Field Support Specialist – Imaging to join our team in Columbia, Maryland. As an IT Field Support Specialist, you will play a critical role in supporting our end-user community by providing Tier 2 and 3 on-site and remote support for computer workstations, servers, printers, peripherals, and teleconferencing equipment. Your expertise in imaging and computer hardware will be essential in ensuring the smooth operation of our systems and delivering exceptional service to our customers.
Key Responsibilities
- Utilize MDT servers to deploy the latest computer image to new and recycled computers, ensuring that all devices are up-to-date and secure.
- Fulfill equipment requests for newly imaged workstations according to daily work priorities, ensuring that all users have the necessary tools to perform their jobs effectively.
- Configure computers, communications devices, and peripheral equipment, ensuring that all systems are properly set up and functioning correctly.
- Train site personnel in the proper use of imaging tools, providing guidance and support to ensure that all users are comfortable and confident in using our systems.
- Troubleshoot, repair, and test computer workstations, servers, printers, peripherals, and teleconferencing equipment, identifying and resolving issues quickly and efficiently.
- Install and configure computer workstations, servers, printers, peripherals, and teleconferencing equipment, and associated cabling, ensuring that all systems are properly installed and functioning correctly.
- Maintain government and/or vendor-manufactured fiber optic modems, multiplexer, fiber optic/Ethernet cables, and telephone systems, ensuring that all equipment is in good working order.
- Ensure that image benches are operational, alerting the proper management team if any issues arise, and taking prompt action to resolve any problems.
Required Qualifications
To be successful in this role, you will need to meet the following requirements:
- High school diploma or equivalent and four (4) years of experience in a related field.
- 8570 Certification is required, with a preference for Security + certification.
- A valid driver's license and an acceptable driving record, as you will be required to drive a company vehicle.
- The ability to lift and carry 50 lbs. multiple times per shift, as you will be working with heavy equipment.
- Availability to work an 8-hour shift between the hours of 6am and 6pm, as determined by management.
- TS/SCI with polygraph clearance is required for this position.
Preferred Qualifications
In addition to the required qualifications, the following skills and experience are preferred:
- Highly skilled in installing, repairing, and troubleshooting computer hardware and peripherals.
- Well-versed in installing Windows, software, applications, antivirus, and patches.
- Demonstrated ability to read and understand technical manuals and schematics.
- Expertise in Microsoft Office Applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Access).
- Able to manage time and priorities effectively, working efficiently with minimal supervision.
- Proficient in working with end-users remotely, providing exceptional customer service and support.
- Demonstrated expertise in Microsoft Windows 7 and 10, with a strong understanding of Active Directory security and policies.
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to think critically and outside the box.
- Outstanding communication skills, with the ability to relate to team members and support workers effectively.
