Job Summary
The Junior Windows Administrator will play a critical role in integrating security practices into our Environment Development and Management team. The successful candidate will be responsible for managing and maintaining Windows-based systems within a DoD program environment, ensuring the security, integrity, and performance of windows servers and workstations. This is an excellent opportunity for a junior administrator to gain hands-on experience, develop their skills, and contribute to the success of our team.
Key Responsibilities
- System Administration: Install, configure, and maintain Windows servers and workstations (Windows Server 2016/2019/2022).
- System Monitoring and Troubleshooting: Perform system monitoring, performance tuning, and troubleshooting to ensure high availability and reliability.
- Security and Compliance: Manage system patches, upgrades, and security hardening in compliance with DoD policies.
- Backup and Recovery: Provide support for system backups, disaster recovery, and data integrity.
- Access Management: Assist in managing system access, user accounts, and security configurations.
- Collaboration and Support: Collaborate with other IT teams to support software deployments and integrations.
- Documentation and Maintenance: Ensure system documentation is maintained and up to date.
- Incident Response: Participate in incident response and resolve issues related to system performance, security, and availability.
Essential Qualifications
- Education: Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or a related field with 2+ years of experience, or a Master's degree.
- Clearance: US Citizen with a Top Secret clearance.
- Technical Skills:
- Experience with Active Directory, Group Policy, and DNS management.
- Strong understanding of system security, patch management, and performance tuning.
- Proficiency in scripting or automation (e.g., PowerShell).
Preferred Qualifications
- Certifications: Windows Server certifications (e.g., MCSA, MCSE, CompTIA Server+).
- Cloud Experience: Experience with cloud platforms (e.g., AWS, Azure).
