About the Role: Lakefront Team Member - Memorial Union
As a Lakefront Team Member, you will play a vital role in delivering outstanding customer service, ensuring seamless food service operations, and contributing to the lively atmosphere of our lakefront restaurants, Strada and Carte. This is an excellent opportunity for students looking to gain valuable work experience, develop new skills, and be part of a dynamic team in a fast-paced, yet rewarding environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Customer Service and Cashiering: Provide exceptional customer service, handle cash and credit transactions accurately, and ensure a positive dining experience for all guests.
- Food Preparation and Handling: Assist with food preparation, cooking, and handling, including meat preparation, and maintain a clean and safe working environment.
- Food Service Support: Support food service operations as needed, including serving alcohol in accordance with university policies and procedures.
- Maintaining a Clean Work Environment: Ensure that your work area is clean, organized, and compliant with health and safety standards.
- Flexibility and Teamwork: Be flexible with your schedule, work collaboratively with your team, and adapt to changing situations and priorities.
- Strada and Carte Operations: Contribute to the smooth operation of either Strada, where you'll make pizzas and pasta bowls, or Carte, where you'll build salads and sandwiches to order.
Schedule and Work Environment:
- Anticipated Hours Per Week: 8 or more hours per week, with a flexible schedule that accommodates your class schedule and other commitments.
- Shift Requirements: At least one weekend shift per week and at least one closing shift per week, with a minimum of 2-3 shifts per week, each approximately 4-6 hours long.
- Unit Hours: 10am - 11pm, with varying shifts to ensure coverage across our operating hours.
Qualifications and Requirements:
Essential Qualifications:
- Punctuality and Reliability: A strong commitment to being on time and dependable in your work.
- Teamwork and Communication: The ability to work effectively in a team environment and communicate clearly with colleagues and customers.
- Prior Food Experience: While not required, prior experience in food service or a related field is helpful.
- Physical Demands: Ability to stand for long periods, move efficiently, and lift as necessary.
- Student Status: Currently enrolled in a college, university, or high school (at least 16 years old). For those on break, intent to enroll in courses the following semester is required.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Food Handling Certification: Possession of a food handling certification or willingness to obtain one.
- Leadership Experience: Previous leadership or team lead experience in a customer service or food service environment.
