Job Summary
We are looking for a part-time Chemistry Tutor to provide academic support to students in chemistry courses. As a tutor, you will work one-on-one with students, either in-person or online, to help them understand and apply chemistry concepts. This is an excellent opportunity to share your knowledge, develop your teaching skills, and make a positive impact on students' academic success.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide one-on-one tutoring support to students in chemistry courses, both in-person and online
- Explain complex chemistry concepts in a clear and concise manner, adapting to individual students' learning styles and needs
- Develop and implement effective tutoring strategies to help students achieve their academic goals
- Maintain accurate records of tutoring sessions and student progress
- Collaborate with faculty members and other tutors to ensure consistency and quality of tutoring services
- Participate in ongoing training and professional development to enhance tutoring skills and knowledge
Requirements and Qualifications
Minimum Requirements for Tutor II:
- Completion of sophomore-level coursework in chemistry with satisfactory grades
- Excellent oral and written communication skills
- Word processing and basic computer skills
- Eagerness to work with a diverse student population
- For candidates who have not yet completed a degree, a minimum of one reference must come from an instructor that can speak to your level of academic achievement
Minimum Requirements for Tutor III:
- At least a Bachelor's degree with a major or minor emphasis in chemistry or a related field
- Excellent oral and written communication skills
- Word processing and basic computer skills
- Eagerness to work with a diverse student population
Preferred Qualifications:
- Extensive experience in chemistry through advanced degrees or work experience
- Experience with tutoring or other peer-assisted learning models
- Experience navigating common software in higher education, such as Blackboard or Starfish
