About the Role: General Education / Noon Recess Building Paraeducator
As a General Education Paraeducator at Hart Middle School, you will play a vital role in supporting the educational journey of our students. This part-time position offers a unique opportunity to make a meaningful difference in the lives of young learners while working collaboratively with our dedicated team of educators. The ideal candidate will be passionate about education, possess excellent interpersonal skills, and be committed to creating a supportive and inclusive learning environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist in planning and implementing academic support for students in the Learning Consultant Program.
- Help students understand assignments and assist with projects/research as directed by the classroom teacher/Learning Consultant.
- Administer tests to students in the Learning Consultant Program or as assigned by the Learning Consultant.
- Maintain accurate records of student activities, including daily logs, assignment sheets, and attendance records.
- Operate office and instructional equipment, including copiers, computers, and electronic media devices.
- Order materials for classroom use and manage inventory of educational resources.
- Conduct learning exercises with groups of children and monitor their progress.
- Attend parent/teacher or teacher/student conferences as requested by the Learning Consultant.
- Support the dispensation and documentation of medication as outlined under district regulations and the student's Medical Management Plan.
- Perform other duties as assigned by the Building Principal or Learning Consultant.
Essential Qualifications and Skills
To be considered for this role, you must meet the following essential qualifications:
- Post-secondary credentials, such as completing at least two years of higher education in an approved program, or holding an Associate's or higher degree.
- Demonstrated knowledge and ability in subject areas as defined by NCLB requirements, or passing state or local tests such as the ETS ParaPro Assessment or MTTC-Professional Readiness Exam.
- Patience and ability to effectively interact with students, teachers, parents, and other staff members.
- Strong command of the English language, both written and spoken.
- Experience supporting elementary instructional programs is preferred.
- Competency in providing academic support with appropriate level curriculum.
- Ability to work collaboratively with colleagues and demonstrate good judgment.
Preferred qualifications include:
- Experience providing students with academic support.
- Tutoring experience in academic subject areas.
- Excellent computer literacy skills, including proficiency in Word and Excel.
