Key Responsibilities
- Collaborate with Teachers: Work closely with teachers to understand student needs, develop instructional materials, and implement strategies to support students with special education needs.
- Support Student Learning: Assist students with assignments, monitor testing and makeup work, and organize class work and homework to ensure students stay on track.
- Administer Assessments: Administer and score student curriculum-based measurement (CBM) assessments for Response to Intervention (RtI) purposes, providing valuable insights into student progress.
- Maintain Classroom Discipline: Assist teachers in maintaining a positive and respectful classroom environment, alerting them to any issues or concerns.
- Provide Personal Support: Assist students with self-care needs, mobility, and participation in special activities such as art, PE, and music.
- Participate in Professional Development: Engage in in-service training programs to enhance your skills and knowledge, staying up-to-date on best practices in special education.
- Perform Various Tasks: Assist with door duty, hall duty, recess duty, and other tasks as assigned, demonstrating flexibility and a willingness to support the school community.
Qualifications and Requirements
To be successful as an Inclusion Teaching Assistant, you will need:
- Paraprofessional Educator License with Stipulations: Hold a valid Paraprofessional Educator License with Stipulations, demonstrating your commitment to working with students with special needs.
- Experience Working with Students with Diverse Needs: Previous experience working with students with special education needs, understanding their unique challenges and opportunities.
- Excellent Communication Skills: Strong communication and interpersonal skills, able to collaborate effectively with teachers, staff, and students.
- Ability to Maintain Confidentiality: Understand the importance of maintaining confidentiality and handling sensitive information with professionalism.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in K-6 Education: Previous experience working in a K-6 educational setting, understanding the developmental needs of students in this age range.
- Knowledge of Special Education Practices: Familiarity with special education practices, including Response to Intervention (RtI) and curriculum-based measurement (CBM) assessments.
- Ability to Work in a Fast-Paced Environment: Ability to work effectively in a dynamic and fast-paced environment, prioritizing tasks and managing multiple responsibilities.
