About the Alyeska Reading Academy
The Alyeska Reading Academy is a pioneering program dedicated to providing high-quality reading instruction and intervention services to at-risk students. As an Education Specialist with our team, you will play a vital role in helping students overcome reading challenges and achieve academic success. Our program is built on the Science of Reading, and we are committed to using evidence-based practices to inform our instruction.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide direct reading instruction, response to intervention, and tutoring services to at-risk students in a virtual setting
- Utilize data-driven educational decisions to inform instruction and improve student outcomes
- Collaborate effectively with administrative teams, school/district staff, parents, and partner agencies to ensure a cohesive support system for students
- Develop and implement tailored reading lessons to meet the diverse needs of students, using Response to Intervention and Multi-Tiered Systems of Support
- Provide adult learning opportunities, including lesson demonstrations, coaching, and professional development, as needed
- Solve problems creatively and with vision, demonstrating a commitment to student success
Essential Qualifications
To be considered for this role, you must possess:
- Alaska Initial, Professional, or Master Teacher Certification with endorsement in Reading, Reading Specialist, or Remedial Reading
- OR Type B Administrator Certificate with transcripts that support completion of a State-Approved Program in reading instruction or 18 semester hours in reading instruction
- Three years of experience implementing reading intervention programs
Preferred Qualifications
While not required, the following qualifications are highly desirable:
- Experience teaching K-2 students in a virtual setting
- Experience coaching and providing professional development to educators

Compensation and Benefits
