Job Summary

As a Physical Therapist Assistant Instructor at Concorde Career Colleges, you'll play a vital role in shaping the future of healthcare professionals. Your primary responsibilities will include providing effective instruction, acting as a professional and academic role model, and committing to student satisfaction. You'll teach in various educational settings, including classrooms, labs, clinical, and online environments, as well as participate in campus and student activities outside the classroom.

Key Responsibilities

  • Instructional Duties:
    • Instruct classes as assigned, preparing for classes by organizing and becoming familiar with student material
    • Prepare lesson plans and course material as required, objectively assessing students for academic performance
    • Effectively organize and present subject matter to students, utilizing instructional plans provided and supplementing approved student material as needed
    • Ensure security of assessment tools and confidential documentation, effectively utilizing and monitoring the learning management systems
    • Conduct classes for the required length of time, adhering to classroom break schedules as per policy
  • Student Interaction:
    • Maintain a classroom environment conducive to learning, setting the example and being a role model for professionalism and conduct
    • Provide regular and constructive feedback to students regarding academic performance, grades, professionalism, conduct, attendance, and other topics as necessary
    • Proactively inform the Program Director of any student attendance, academic, or behavioral concerns for retention management
    • Appropriately maintain student records, grades, and attendance to ensure accuracy, ensuring compliance with the published attendance policy
    • Facilitate tutoring and makeup work as needed, ensuring and monitoring student participation
  • Related Duties, Outside the Classroom:
    • Stay informed of current standards related to instructional methodology, participating in and documenting ongoing faculty and professional development activities
    • Attend outside workshops and seminars to improve instructional and professional skills, attending orientations, staff meetings, and faculty meetings as scheduled
    • Assist with preparations for graduation ceremonies, attending graduation ceremonies as requested
    • Participate in student and campus activities as requested, assisting in inventory, organization, and ordering of supplies and classroom material
    • Maintain classrooms in a neat and orderly fashion, reporting any non-functioning equipment to the Program Director or Academic Dean

Qualifications and Requirements

To be successful as a Physical Therapist Assistant Instructor at Concorde Career Colleges, you'll need to meet the following qualifications and requirements:

  • Be licensed or regulated in any United States jurisdiction as a PT or PTA
  • Hold a minimum of an associate degree
  • Have a minimum of four years of full-time (or equivalent) post-licensure clinical experience in physical therapy
  • Demonstrate contemporary expertise in assigned teaching areas and demonstrated effectiveness in teaching and student evaluation
