As a Medical Scribe, you will play a vital role in accurately recording and documenting patient visits in the Electronic Health Record (EHR) system, ensuring seamless communication and continuity of care.

Position Overview

This is an exciting opportunity for a detail-oriented and organized individual to work in a fast-paced healthcare environment. As a Medical Scribe, you will be responsible for documenting patient interactions, procedures, and treatments in real-time, using the Computerized Patient Record System (CPRS) and electronic dictation system. Your primary focus will be on ensuring accurate and timely documentation, while maintaining the highest standards of patient confidentiality and HIPAA compliance.

Key Responsibilities

  • Document all physician or LIP patient appointment dialog in real-time, using free text and/or designated templates, and ensuring appropriate appointment and note titles
  • Introduce yourself to patients as working with the physician or LIP, and utilize standard client protocol to properly identify patients prior to treatment
  • Research information requested by healthcare providers and document procedures, treatments, and patient education
  • Locate and retrieve past medical history, lab results, imaging studies, EKGs, and other pertinent reports or medical records for physician review
  • Maintain professional conduct and integrity during interactions with physicians, patients, and other healthcare professionals
  • Participate in meetings and conferences related to patient care documentation and quality improvement as requested

Essential Qualifications

To be successful in this role, you will need:

  • Experience as a medical scribe, preferably in a similar healthcare setting
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills, with the ability to accurately document patient interactions and medical information
  • Comfort with frequent communication with Veterans and all VA Medical Center personnel
  • Proof of COVID-19 Vaccination

Preferred Qualifications

While not essential, the following qualifications are highly desirable:

  • Active Public Trust clearance
  • Accredited Medical Scribe training
  • Experience with Veterans Health Information and Technology Architecture (VistA) and Computerized Patient Record System (CPRS)

Physical Requirements

This role requires the ability to stand and walk from room to room for extended periods, as well as the ability to work in a fast-paced environment with multiple priorities and deadlines.
