Job Overview
We are seeking an experienced and passionate High School Math Teacher to join our team at Washington High School. Key Responsibilities
- Implement 21st Century Skills into the curriculum to enhance student learning and engagement
- Assess student abilities and progress, providing constructive feedback and support to ensure students meet their full potential
- Plan and employ a variety of appropriate instruction/learning strategies and activities that cater to the diverse needs and capabilities of students
- Manage the behavior of learners in the classroom, creating a positive and respectful learning environment that promotes academic achievement
- Communicate effectively with students, parents, and colleagues to ensure collaborative action and meet the educational needs of students
- Participate in professional growth and development activities, including staff meetings, in-service, and staff development activities to enhance teaching practices and stay updated on best practices in education
- Maintain accurate and efficient records, including attendance, assessment, and evaluation documentation, to inform instruction and support student progress
- Contribute to the development of instructional goals, objectives, methods, and curriculum, ensuring alignment with district and state standards
Essential Qualifications
- Meets the employment qualifications set forth by the Kansas City, Kansas Board of Education and the Kansas State Department of Education
- Kansas teaching certificate in area of instructional responsibility (Mathematics)
- English as a Second Language endorsement preferred or commitment to obtaining that endorsement
- Strong knowledge of content, curriculum, methods, materials, and equipment of instructional specialty
- Ability to establish and maintain effective relationships with students, parents, and peers
- Excellent communication and human relations skills, with the ability to present information and respond to questions from various stakeholders

- Experience teaching high school mathematics, with a proven track record of improving student achievement and engagement
- Proficiency in using technology to enhance instruction and support student learning
- Ability to speak multiple languages, with a focus on languages spoken by our diverse student population
