About the Role

We are seeking a highly motivated and enthusiastic Substitute Teacher to join our team in Caldwell, NJ. As a Substitute Teacher with Scoot Education, you will have the opportunity to gain hands-on teaching experience on your own schedule, working with a variety of students and schools. You will be part of a dynamic and supportive team that values your skills, experience, and passion for education. Our Substitute Teachers play a vital role in ensuring that students receive the best possible education, and we are committed to providing you with the tools, training, and support you need to excel in the classroom.

Key Responsibilities

• Teach a variety of subjects and grade levels, including elementary, middle, and high school
• Develop and implement engaging lesson plans, adapting to the needs of each classroom and student
• Manage classroom behavior, creating a positive and inclusive learning environment
• Communicate effectively with students, teachers, and school administrators, providing feedback and support as needed
• Collaborate with other educators to develop and implement curriculum, sharing best practices and expertise
• Participate in professional development opportunities, staying up-to-date on the latest teaching methods and technologies

Essential Qualifications

• Associate or Bachelor's degree, or 60+ college credits
• Three professional references, including one from a previous direct supervisor
• NJ Substitute Credential
• Background check and TB risk assessment (we'll cover the cost of this!)
• Full COVID-19 vaccination
• A passion for education and putting students first
• An empathetic nature, a growth mindset, and a drive to be the best you can be

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience working with students of diverse backgrounds and abilities
• Knowledge of trauma-informed teaching, classroom management, and other educational best practices
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
• Ability to adapt to new situations and challenges, with a flexible and positive attitude
• Commitment to ongoing learning and professional development
