Outpatient III Coder
About the position
Responsibilities
• Thoroughly reviews and analyzes patient encounters for compliant coding.
• Accurately assigns codes in a timely manner.
• Accurately abstracts data elements as required.
• Effectively collaborates with leadership and customers (HIM Operations, Patient Access and other departments) to ensure the integrity of the medical record and coding compliance.
• Stays current of all changes in coding conventions, regulatory guidelines, code updates and BJC coding guidance.
Requirements
• High School Diploma or GED
• At least one of the following certifications: RHIA, RHIT, CCS, CPC, CPC-A, CCA, or COC
• No prior experience required for entry-level candidates
• 2-5 years of experience preferred
