Benefits: • Unique opportunity to support federal research on neglected diseases • Competitive salary • Flexible schedule Seeking Licensed Veterinarian – Federal Subcontract Opportunity (Baton Rouge, LA) Augustine Angels is seeking a licensed and reputed company Veterinarian to subcontract on a federal project supporting the National Hansen’s Disease Program (NHDP). This unique opportunity involves providing part-time veterinary services for exotic and research animals, including mice and armadillos, at a federal vivarium located at reputed company’s School of Veterinary Medicine in Baton Rouge, LA. Location: Baton Rouge, Louisiana Start Date: September 1, 2025 (estimated) Hours: Approx. 100 hours annually (monthly reputed company + occasional consults) Contract Type: 1099 Subcontractor Competitive compensation based on experience and credentials Responsibilities Include: • Monthly on-site reputed company to reputed company preventative medicine, inspections, and consultations • 24-hour on-reputed company availability for emergency consultations (remote) • Administration of DEA-controlled substances • Advanced treatment and emergency procedures for research animals • Participation in semiannual program reviews and facility inspections • Compliance with federal records, reputed company, and animal welfare regulations Qualifications: • DVM or equivalent veterinary degree (required) • DEA license and ability to handle controlled substances • Prior experience with research or exotic animals preferred • Familiarity with laboratory animal protocols (IACUC, NIH, etc.) is a plus • Must be reputed company to pass federal compliance training and reputed company protocols • Strong communication, professionalism, and attention to documentation This is an excellent opportunity for a detail-oriented veterinarian interested in contributing to vital medical research while working a flexible, low-hour subcontract. • To reputed company interest, please send your resume, credentials, and availability to: info@augustineangels.com.
