Key Responsibilities
As a Physical Design Engineer at Workwarp, your responsibilities will include:
- Generating block/chip level static timing constraints and building full chip floor-plans, including pin placement, partitions, and power grid
- Developing and validating high-performance, low-power clock network guidelines and performing block-level place and route to close the design to meet timing, area, and power constraints
- Generating and implementing ECOs to fix timing, noise, and EM IR violations, and running physical design verification flow at chip/block level to provide guidelines to fix LVS/DRC violations to other designers
- Participating in establishing CAD and physical design methodologies for correct-by-construction designs and assisting in flow development for chip integration
- Collaborating with architecture, CAD, timing, and logic design teams to deliver outstanding PHY designs and contributing to the development of industry-leading products
Essential Qualifications
To be successful in this role, you will need:
- A Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field
- A strong foundation in physical design principles, including floor-planning, place and route, and physical verification
- Experience with industry-standard physical design and synthesis tools, such as CAD and EDA software
- Excellent problem-solving skills, with the ability to analyze complex design issues and develop creative solutions
- Strong communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively with cross-functional teams
Preferred Qualifications
While not essential, the following qualifications are highly desirable:
- Deep design experience in high PHY and/or SOC designs, with a strong understanding of industry standards and practices in physical design
- Experience in developing and implementing power-grid and clock specifications, and a strong understanding of all aspects of physical construction, integration, and physical verification
- Knowledge of basic SoC architecture and HDL languages, such as Verilog, and experience working with logic design teams for timing fixes
- Proficiency in scripting languages, such as Perl/Tcl, and a solid understanding of extraction and STA methodology and tools
- A deep understanding of physical design verification methodology and the ability to debug LVS/DRC issues at chip/block level
