Job Overview
We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Before and After School Program Instructor to join our team at Rainier View Elementary in Seattle, WA. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for guiding elementary age participants through sports, arts, STEM, and other hands-on learning activities, promoting teamwork, social emotional learning, and fun. Key Responsibilities
- Implement culturally relevant and developmentally appropriate activities within the curriculum, in accordance with the Youth Development goals of the YMCA
- Supervise a group of children to ensure their health and safety, and provide a positive experience for each child
- Provide guidance to staff/volunteers overseeing the activities of groups of children
- Professionally communicate day-to-day, confidential, and evaluative information with parents/guardians
- Follow YMCA policies and procedures, including those related to medical and disciplinary situations, child abuse prevention, and emergency procedures
- Assist in maintaining a developmentally appropriate site, including appearance, décor, and cleanliness of the site
- Prepare and serve snacks, and clean the snack area
- Attend staff meetings and trainings as required
- Perform other duties as assigned
Essential Qualifications
- 18 years of age or older
- 1-2 years of experience working with children, such as in camps, childcare, tutoring, or nannying
- Ability to model and demonstrate Y values: caring, respect, responsibility, and honesty
- Experience planning and implementing group activities
- TB Test by Mantoux method (at hire, or earliest possible training, but no later than 30 days after employment)
- Completion of minimum STARS required training, CPR/First Aid Training (at hire, or earliest possible training, but no later than 30 days after employment)
- Cleared Portable Background Check in the statewide registry MERIT (at hire, or during onboarding for position)
Preferred Qualifications
- Knowledge of, and previous experience with, diverse populations (language, culture, race, physical ability, sexual orientation, etc.)
- Ability to speak any language in addition to English
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Transcripts or a copy of high school diploma will be required during the offer stage to ensure applicants meet state licensing requirements pre-hire

Compensation, Perks, and Benefits
We offer a competitive salary range of $20-$22 per hour, depending on experience. In addition to your salary, you will also receive:
