Key Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with Nursing subject matter experts to develop and guide instructional design projects for online and hybrid courses.
  • Research and apply instructional design principles and quality assessment techniques to create pedagogically sound learning interactions.
  • Assist faculty and staff in the development of independent learning activities, including criterion-based objectives, knowledge acquisition exercises, practice activities, and assessments.
  • Provide ideas and content to drive the development of interactive activities, games, simulations, and self-assessments that support learning objectives.
  • Collaborate with the Instructional Design, Engagement and Accessibility Lab (IDEA Lab) to ensure that course designs and online activities meet Division of Learning standards.
  • Provide leadership and coordination of implementation and ongoing education of AACC's instructional technology systems.
  • Design and teach faculty professional development online courses covering best practices in teaching online, instructional design, and digital accessibility.
  • Provide expertise to faculty on evaluating and providing feedback relating to online courses through Canvas.
  • Assist in the direct integration of technology into the course curricula, extra-curricular, and co-curricular learning of the Nursing program.
  • Represent the Nursing program on College Committees as appropriate.

Essential Qualifications

  • Graduate degree or Bachelor's degree with online instructional certificate.
  • RN License required.
  • Minimum of one year teaching experience.
  • Advanced knowledge and skills in instructional design, use of information technology, and learning management systems.
  • Demonstrated proficiency of computer applications, including word processing, spreadsheets, and database management software.
  • Excellent oral, written, and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to work collegiately with a culturally diverse group of faculty, staff, and students.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master's or Doctorate in Instructional Design.
  • Teaching experience in a community college nursing program.
  • Compact License.
  • Two years' experience as an instructional designer, or equivalent mix of education and practical experience.
  • Experience in medical education, health professions education, or healthcare setting.
  • Teaching or administrative experience with the Canvas LMS.

  • Strong knowledge of instructional design principles and best practices.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work independently and prioritize work duties and responsibilities.
  • Proficient in learning management systems, including Canvas.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
