We're seeking a passionate and experienced Virtual Algebra I Tutor to join our team and make a meaningful impact on students' lives.About the Role
As a Virtual Algebra I Tutor with Littera Education, you'll have the opportunity to work with students from diverse backgrounds and skill levels, providing personalized support and guidance in Algebra I. This is a 100% remote contract position, offering a flexible schedule that allows you to choose your own availability. You'll work with students located across the United States, utilizing our cutting-edge online platform and curriculum materials.Key Responsibilities:
- Tutor students virtually in a 1:1 - 1:3 setting, providing high-quality support and guidance in Algebra I
- Complete curriculum reviews for lesson content and develop engaging lesson plans
- Build strong relationships with students, understanding their needs and goals
- Effectively communicate and instruct students, using clear and concise language
- Utilize online virtual tools and technology, including our proprietary platform and curriculum materials
- Commit to a consistent schedule, once matched with a student or group of students
Requirements:
- Relevant experience working with school-age learners in a tutoring, teaching, or mentoring capacity
- Relatively consistent calendar availability, supporting a session series from week to week at the same time with the same student(s)
- Confident knowledge of Algebra I, with the ability to effectively instruct and engage students
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build strong relationships with students
- High comfort level with online virtual tools and technology, including video conferencing software and online platforms
- Desktop or laptop computer, high-speed internet connection, video camera, and noise-canceling headset with microphone
- United States residency required; must reside in New York
- Bachelor's degree preferred, but college students with 1+ years of relevant experience are welcome to apply

- Strong knowledge of Algebra I concepts and principles

- Flexibility and adaptability, with the ability to adjust to changing schedules and needs

The Process:

- Complete a 2-minute video reply, sharing your experience with math or algebra
- Attend a virtual mock appointment, with a 5-minute tutoring demonstration
- Review and sign the Tutor Agreement, consent to and pass a background check
- Complete fingerprinting forms and schedule an in-person fingerprinting appointment
How Are Tutors Scheduled?
At Littera Education, we prioritize a consistent student-tutor relationship. Here's how our scheduling process works:
- Tutors set their availability in their tutor dashboard, indicating the days and times they're available to work
- Sessions are offered Monday to Friday, with session times generally between 8am ET to 9pm ET
- Tutors share their subjects and levels of interest to tutor, as well as their open calendar availability
- The platform matches tutors with students, based on their availability, subject interests, and schedule
