Key Responsibilities
- Facilitate individual and small group tutoring sessions to support students' academic success
- Regularly meet with assigned students to review course content, integrate effective study and learning strategies, and coach solutions to problems
- Teach study skills, note-taking skills, and test-taking strategies to help students develop a robust toolkit for academic achievement
- Maintain accurate and confidential records of student assessment, progress, feedback, and performance
- Collaborate with students to set goals, identify areas for improvement, and develop a growth mindset
Essential Qualifications
- A minimum of a Bachelor's degree in Mathematics or a related field (Master's degree preferred)
- Strong knowledge of mathematical concepts and the ability to communicate complex ideas effectively
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to work with students from diverse backgrounds
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team, with a commitment to ongoing professional development
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous experience in tutoring or teaching mathematics, particularly in a higher education setting
- Familiarity with Penn State's academic programs and curriculum
- Experience working with students from diverse backgrounds, including those with varying levels of mathematical proficiency
