Toxicologist II -IV(Remote Western US)
About the position
Responsibilities
• Evaluate analytical results and certify the acceptability of reports.
• Interpret results and respond to inquiries from clients and laboratory staff.
• Provide courtroom testimony when required.
• Make final technical and administrative reviews of data before report release.
• Identify potential laboratory-related issues and notify appropriate parties.
• Review litigation packets for acceptability.
• Evaluate cases in the TOX review queue when assigned.
• Provide input on policy and organizational improvement.
• Prepare interpretation reports and provide expert testimony on analytical casework.
• Communicate with clients and laboratory staff regarding toxicology-related matters.
• Perform specialized laboratory casework and research.
• Assist laboratory staff in improving and developing methods.
Requirements
• Master's Degree + 3 years relevant experience with 1 year post-graduate experience OR Ph.D. degree + 1 year post-graduate relevant experience for Toxicologist II.
• Master's Degree + 5 years relevant experience with 1 year post-graduate experience OR Ph.D. degree + 3 years relevant experience for Toxicologist III.
• Master's Degree + 7 years relevant experience with 1 year post-graduate experience OR Ph.D. degree + 5 years relevant experience for Toxicologist IV.
• ABFT or ABCC-TC board eligibility or certification is required for all levels.
• Completion of at least 24 semester hours in chemistry, including general chemistry, organic chemistry, and analytical chemistry, plus one interpretive science course and one statistics course for Toxicologist IV.
Nice-to-haves
• Experience with analytical procedures and terminology.
• Knowledge of pharmacology/toxicology and postmortem-related issues.
• Strong communication skills, both verbal and written.
