Job Overview
The successful candidate will be responsible for performing a variety of medical billing and data entry tasks, including entry-level billing of claims, accurate data entry of information into our computer system, and verifying patient information. You will also be responsible for checking payer portals for claims status, resubmitting claims, and following appropriate HIPAA guidelines to provide medical records to primary care providers, insurance carriers, referred providers, and patients. This is a 5-month contract-to-hire position, with the potential to become a permanent member of our team.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform entry-level billing of claims, ensuring accuracy and attention to detail
- Accurately enter information into our computer system, including patient demographics and billing information
- Verify patient information in our system, ensuring accuracy and completeness
- Check payer portals for claims status, and resubmit claims as necessary
- Follow appropriate HIPAA guidelines to provide medical records to primary care providers, insurance carriers, referred providers, and patients
- Assist coworkers as needed, and contribute to team goals and deadlines
- Work collaboratively with the team to achieve high levels of productivity and efficiency
Qualifications and Requirements
To be successful in this role, you will need to have:
- Great references from past employers, and strong tenure in a medical billing or data entry role
- At least 1 year of medical experience, preferably in a billing or data entry role
- Proficiency in medical billing software and electronic health record (EHR) systems
- Knowledge of insurance claim submission processes, and familiarity with various payer guidelines
- Experience working with Medicaid, and a strong understanding of the associated guidelines and regulations
- High School Diploma or GED required

- Experience working in a remote environment, with a proven ability to work independently and manage your time effectively
