Role Purpose and Responsibilities

As a Part Time Remote Customer Service Specialist, you will be responsible for:

  • Navigating electronic health records to obtain and validate historical information, capturing and documenting demographic and financial information, and maintaining patient privacy and security as outlined by HIPAA.
  • Managing a high volume of incoming calls from patients, healthcare providers, and facilities, ensuring resolution to the call and providing excellent customer service.
  • Leveraging critical thinking with speed and accuracy to identify the reason for the call and take appropriate action based on caller need and acuity.
  • Scheduling patient visits based on complex provider preferences, verifying and updating insurance, and checking insurance eligibility.
  • Communicating directly with providers (physicians) to relay pertinent clinical information during after hours.
  • Managing calls within established performance and customer service standards, achieving targeted abandoned call rate, average speed of answer, and average transaction time.

Requirements and Qualifications

Minimum Requirements:

  • Education: High School Diploma or GED
  • Experience: 2-5 years of recent healthcare or customer service experience
  • Typing Test: Minimum speed of 35 wpm, 90% accuracy
  • Location: Must live within 1 hour of St. Louis, Missouri

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Recent healthcare experience, preferably in a customer service role
  • Familiarity with electronic health records and healthcare operations
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with multiple priorities

Schedule and Shift Details

This is a part-time position, requiring 24 hours per week. The schedule includes:

  • Sunday: 12:00 a.m. - 9:30 a.m.
  • Thursday and Friday: 4:00 p.m. - 12:00 a.m. (Holiday Bucket: 4:00 p.m. - 12:00 a.m.)
