[Remote] Software Quality Assurance Lead

They are seeking a Software Quality Assurance Lead to support a federal client in deploying a patient education tool, ensuring quality through various testing methodologies and collaboration with stakeholders.
Responsibilities
• Participate in Agile delivery cycles by engaging in requirements review, backlog refinement, sprint testing, release validation, and production monitoring.
• Design, maintain, and execute test cases (manual and automated) to validate functional, regression, integration, and smoke testing across multiple environments (Test, Pre-Prod, Prod, Blue/Green), ensuring coverage of critical application paths.
• Apply BDD principles to write clear acceptance criteria, user stories, and test scenarios, ensuring requirements are well-defined, feasible, and testable.
• Facilitate QA–Dev collaboration by documenting, prioritizing, and escalating defects appropriately, while coordinating QA resources, regression suites, and automation testers to maximize coverage and efficiency.
• Define, track, and report QA metrics by creating dashboards, release notes, and stakeholder updates that communicate progress, defect trends, risks, and release readiness.
• Support continuous improvement by refining QA processes, maintaining documentation (process flows, context diagrams, lessons learned), and staying current with industry standards, automation practices, and federal compliance requirements.
• Act as liaison with stakeholders by gathering and prioritizing requirements, preparing client-facing artifacts (status updates, demos, slide decks), and aligning program goals with technical delivery.
• Partner with QA to ensure requirements are testable and have full coverage; partner with Devs to ensure feasibility and technical clarity.
• Develop and maintain process flows, context diagrams, and documentation that communicate scope and align team understanding.
• Prepare stakeholder-facing artifacts (status updates, release notes, slide decks, and demos) to communicate progress and support decision-making.
• Stay current with QA trends, tools, and federal compliance standards to proactively enhance testing practices.
Skills
• 3–5 years of experience in software testing, including manual and automated testing across web and/or mobile applications.
• Strong working knowledge of Agile/Scrum methodologies and demonstrated experience testing in iterative delivery environments.
• Proven ability to design, execute, and document test cases, scenarios, and regression suites with a high degree of detail and accuracy.
• Hands-on experience with Jira and Zephyr (or similar test management tools).
• Strong understanding and practical application of BDD testing practices.
• Experience defining and maintaining QA metrics, and building dashboards/reports to communicate status and trends.
• Demonstrated ability to facilitate QA–Dev collaboration and to triage/escalate defects appropriately.
• Experience coordinating QA resources across test cycles and releases.
• Excellent communication skills for working with developers, automation engineers, product owners, and federal stakeholders.
• High attention to detail, with the ability to manage complex workflows and data sets.
• U.S. Citizenship (must be able to obtain government security clearance).
• Agile QA certification (Agile Tester, ISTQB, CSTE, or similar).
• Agile certifications (CSPO, SAFe PO/PM, PMI-ACP, or similar).
• Experience testing in federal healthcare, defense, or government IT environments.
• Knowledge of test automation frameworks and how to align them with manual test coverage.
• Familiarity with Jira and SharePoint (or similar backlog and documentation tools).
• Experience leading or coordinating automation testers and regression test execution.
• Familiarity with mobile testing platforms and virtualized test environments (e.g., BrowserStack, device farms).
• Understanding of accessibility standards (e.g., Section 508) and compliance testing.
• Strong preference for individuals with a Public Trust or Secret clearance.
