The Role: Principal DevOps Engineer

We're on the hunt for a technically astute Principal DevOps Engineer to spearhead organizational transformation through the development of cutting-edge DevOps tooling, practices, and culture. As a Technical Senior IC, you will be instrumental in driving enterprise-wide change, ensuring the adoption of best practices, and fostering a culture of continuous improvement.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead the DevOps strategy, encompassing the design, development of tools, practices, and culture that drive organizational change.
  • Establish and maintain DevOps best practices, including version control, code review, automated testing, and deployment techniques.
  • Design and manage infrastructure as code using tools like Terraform, Ansible, or similar, to provision and manage resources across cloud environments.
  • Implement and manage CI/CD pipelines using tools like Jenkins, CircleCI, or similar, ensuring fast and reliable application deployment.
  • Collaborate with security and compliance teams to ensure adherence to industry best practices and regulatory requirements.
  • Monitor and analyze DevOps pipelines and practices, identifying areas for improvement, optimization, and automation to enhance deployment/rollback consistency and accuracy.
  • Stay abreast of emerging technologies, trends, and best practices, making recommendations for their adoption within blithequark's DevOps ecosystem.
  • Mentor and provide technical guidance to junior colleagues, fostering a culture of knowledge sharing and continuous learning.

Required Qualifications:

To excel in this role, you must possess:

  • A Bachelor's degree in a relevant field.
  • Experience working in open cloud environments, preferably GCP, Azure, or AWS, and containerization technologies (e.g., Docker, Kubernetes).
  • Proficiency in infrastructure as code concepts and tools (e.g., Terraform, Ansible) for automating resource provisioning and configuration.
  • Hands-on experience with CI/CD pipeline tools (e.g., Jenkins, CircleCI) and version control systems (e.g., Git).
  • Strong scripting skills in languages like Python, Bash, or similar.
  • Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills, with the ability to troubleshoot complex DevOps platform issues and provide effective solutions.
  • Good communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively with cross-functional teams and stakeholders.

Preferred Qualifications:

To stand out, you should have:

  • Experience with monitoring and logging tools (e.g., Prometheus, Grafana, Splunk, Cloud Logging Solutions) to ensure application performance and system health.
  • Knowledge of security best practices in DevOps, including experience with vulnerability scanning, compliance frameworks, and secure deployment practices.
  • Leadership experience, including mentoring and guiding junior engineers.
