Job Overview
We are seeking an experienced and dynamic professional to join our team as the Director of Student Life and Housing. Key Responsibilities
- Develop and implement comprehensive student life programs, including cultural and multicultural activities, campus events, and co-curricular activities, to promote student engagement, retention, and success.
- Manage student housing, including resident assistant supervision, housing assignments, and facilities management, to create a safe, inclusive, and supportive living environment.
- Collaborate with the Student Government Association, student life committee, academic faculty, and other staff to promote student success, address student concerns, and foster a culture of inclusivity and diversity.
- Conduct quantitative and qualitative assessments of student life activities to evaluate their effectiveness and identify areas for improvement.
- Develop and implement policies, procedures, and initiatives to promote student success, retention, and graduation, in alignment with the college's strategic plan and mission.
- Supervise and evaluate resident assistants, providing guidance, support, and training to ensure their success in their roles.
- Coordinate tours of the GBC Elko campus for prospective students, families, and community groups, to promote the college and its programs.
- Collaborate with other departments, such as academic advising, financial aid, and counseling, to provide holistic support services to students and promote their academic success.
- Participate in college-wide activities, committees, and initiatives, to contribute to the development of a vibrant and inclusive campus community.
Essential Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Higher Education Administration, Student Affairs, or a related field, from a regionally accredited institution.
- Three years of full-time residential life experience or equivalent experience in student affairs, housing, or student life.
- Experience as a self-starter, with a proven track record of developing and implementing innovative programs and initiatives.
- Commitment to student success, access, and equity, with a deep understanding of the needs and challenges of diverse student populations.
- Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with students, faculty, staff, and community members.
- Ability to use appropriate interpersonal skills and methods to reduce tension and resolve conflict in difficult and complex situations.
Preferred Qualifications
- Master's degree in Higher Education Administration, Student Affairs, or a related field, from a regionally accredited institution.
- Two or more years of experience in student affairs, housing, or student life, with a focus on promoting student success, retention, and graduation.
- Experience working in a rural-serving institution, with a deep understanding of the unique challenges and opportunities of serving rural communities.
- Experience with policy and procedure development, implementation, and assessment, with a focus on promoting student success and well-being.
- Knowledge of best practices in student life, housing, and residential education, with a commitment to staying current with emerging trends and research in the field.

Compensation, Perks, and Benefits
The annual salary range for this position is $60,000 - $78,000, commensurate with experience and education. We offer a comprehensive benefits package, including:
