Import-Export Classification Specialist

Job Title: Import-Export Classification Specialist Job Description We are seeking a detail-oriented Import-Export Classification Specialist to ensure accurate and timely import and export operations in compliance with government regulations and corporate policies. This role requires a strong understanding of customs brokerage and trade compliance best practices, with the ability to work independently and make informed decisions. Responsibilities • Support the management of import and export activities in compliance with government regulations and corporate policies. • Monitor changes in tariff or duty-related programs and assess their impacts on operations. • Coordinate with Business Units and legal teams to qualify goods and manage trade agreements. • Support post-entry activities, including corrections, protests, and disclosures. • Maintain product dictionaries and ensure accurate classification and tariff designations. • Execute audits related to imports, exports, and free trade agreements. • Monitor and manage export control activities, including licensing and permits. • Develop processes and report on duty/tax claims and facilitate refunds. • Support CTPAT or other trade compliance functions as needed. Essential Skills • Strong working knowledge of import and export activities and customs brokerage. • Practical knowledge of CBP compliance best practices and regulations. • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision and make informed decisions. • Excellent attention to detail and problem-solving skills. • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, especially Excel, PowerPoint, and Power BI. • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. • Ability to work under pressure and manage complex issues. Additional Skills & Qualifications • Undergraduate degree in supply chain logistics/distribution, finance, accounting, international business, or related field. • Minimum of 6 years of practical experience in customs and international trade. • Current customs broker’s license is desired but not required. Work Environment This is a 100% remote position offering a long-term contract opportunity. You will work in an environment with both recurring and non-recurring tasks, requiring attention to detail and the ability to manage complex situations.
