Job Summary

We're seeking an experienced Full Stack Data Scientist to join our Scientific Affairs team, where you'll play a critical role in producing Real-World Evidence (RWE) through advanced analytics and innovative strategies in the medical trials space. As a Data Scientist, RWE, you'll be responsible for conducting cutting-edge data analysis to help address critical business questions and drive decision-making. Key Responsibilities

As a Data Scientist, RWE, you'll be responsible for the following key responsibilities:
  • Conduct due diligence on new actual-world data companies and vendors, and perform RWD quality assessments to inform funding decisions.
  • Mine raw data units to provide standardized, analysis-ready patient cohorts from in-house data assets or online certified systems, including producing hypotheses and reading data test and interpret results in close collaboration with the cost and outcomes research and patient market access team, and assist in forming the analytics strategy.
  • Partner with other members of the Walgreens Clinical Trial team to deliver actionable insights from actual-world, medical, and other data resources to support biopharmaceutical RWE and clinical trial requests. Potential efforts include evaluation of unmet needs, secure and effective treatments in specific disease states, treatment styles, and healthcare financial burden data to guide budget impact modeling and value effectiveness modeling.
  • Clean, transform, and store data into an integrated data lake for future analysis and broader team consumption.
  • Perform data mining and statistical analysis to investigate RWE/RWD in order to uncover new insights concerning patient populations and treatment effects.
  • Support the development of actual-world data, analytics, and platform capabilities, applying cutting-edge advanced analytics methodologies and tools to address medical questions from biopharmaceutical companies.
  • Collaborate on design and execution of results studies research from a data science and analytics perspective.
  • Ensure high-quality, rigorous, and effectively interpretable deliverables from RWE studies analyses.
  • Build dashboards, analytics, and reports for internal and external consumption.

Basic Qualifications

To be considered for this role, you must have:
  • Bachelor's degree or graduate degree and a minimum of four years of experience in a quantitative or computational function.
  • Four years of experience in R, Python, or SQL.
  • Experience in designing and executing robust and reproducible statistical analyses in the context of epidemiology and observational studies with healthcare data.
  • Knowledge of common statistical testing strategies such as generalized linear models, classification and discrimination, decision trees, unsupervised learning, time series analysis, and survival analysis.
  • Experience processing large data from various data sources.
  • Experience working with integrated patient health data.
  • Knowledge of at least one of the following: Tableau, Power BI, Alteryx, Spotfire, or other BI intelligence tools.

Preferred Qualifications

While not required, the following qualifications are preferred:
  • PhD, Master's degree in data/biostatistics, computer science, mathematics, systems engineering, biomedical engineering, or related field.
  • Expertise in EMR/Health IT, disease registries, and claims databases.
  • Expertise in clinical data standards, clinical terminologies, and managed vocabularies used in healthcare data and ontologies (ICD9/10/ReadCode).
  • Experience in Good Clinical Practice (GCP) and regulatory compliance guidelines for real-world evidence research or clinical trials (e.g., ISO, MDD/MDR, CFR).
  • Experience working on alternative data sources and methods of healthcare data collection, especially those enabled by technology structures and/or solutions.
  • Experience with experimental design, Bayesian modeling, sequential data, computational data.
  • Understanding of data and machine learning techniques, ability to retain self-learning of technical and non-technical skills.
