As a leader in healthcare innovation, we are dedicated to embracing new technologies, best practices, and evidence-based medicine to improve patient outcomes and quality of life. **About the Position** As a Physician Infectious Disease Specialist with the Iowa City VA Health Care System, you will play a critical role in providing high-quality patient care, teaching, and research in the field of infectious diseases. You will work closely with our multidisciplinary team to develop and implement comprehensive treatment plans for patients with complex infectious diseases. Your expertise will be essential in supervising Infectious Diseases fellows, participating in hospital-wide committees, and engaging in clinical research. **Responsibilities** * Provide primary outpatient care to patients with HIV/AIDS and other complex infectious diseases * Supervise Infectious Diseases fellows on the inpatient consultation service and in Infectious Diseases clinic * Participate in hospital-wide committees, including the Antimicrobial Stewardship Committees * Develop and engage in clinical research in infectious diseases * Teach and mentor Internal Medicine residents and Infectious Diseases fellows * Provide telehealth consults to areas of our network that lack Infectious Diseases physicians * Collaborate with other healthcare professionals to develop and implement comprehensive treatment plans for patients with complex infectious diseases **Qualifications** * United States Citizenship: Non-citizens may only be appointed when it is not possible to recruit qualified citizens in accordance with VA Policy * Degree of Doctor of Medicine or an equivalent degree resulting from a course of education in medicine or osteopathic medicine * Current, full and unrestricted license to practice medicine or surgery in a State, Territory, or Commonwealth of the United States, or in the District of Columbia * Residency Training: Physicians must have completed residency training, approved by the Secretary of Veterans Affairs in an accredited core specialty training program leading to eligibility for board certification * Board eligible Infectious Disease * Proficiency in spoken and written English **Preferred Qualifications** * Experience in teaching and mentoring * Experience in clinical research * Experience in supervising fellows and residents * Strong communication and interpersonal skills * Ability to work effectively in a team environment **Skills and Competencies** * Strong clinical skills in infectious diseases * Excellent communication and interpersonal skills * Ability to work effectively in a team environment * Strong teaching and mentoring skills * Ability to develop and implement comprehensive treatment plans for patients with complex infectious diseases * Ability to participate in clinical research and develop new treatments and therapies **Career Growth Opportunities and Learning Benefits** * Opportunities for professional growth and development through training and education programs * Collaborative and supportive work environment * Access to state-of-the-art medical equipment and technology * Opportunities for research and publication * Competitive salary and benefits package **Work Environment and Company Culture** * Remote work opportunity with flexible scheduling * Collaborative and supportive work environment * Access to state-of-the-art medical equipment and technology * Opportunities for professional growth and development * Competitive salary and benefits package **Compensation, Perks, and Benefits** * Competitive salary: $220,000 - $300,000 per year * Annual performance bonus * Regular salary increases * Paid Time Off: 50-55 days of annual paid time off per year * Retirement: Traditional federal pension (5 years vesting) and federal 401K with up to 5% in contributions by VA * Insurance: Federal health/vision/dental/term life/long-term care (many federal insurance programs can be carried into retirement) * Licensure: 1 full and unrestricted license from any US State or territory * CME: Possible $1,000 per year reimbursement * Malpractice: Free liability protection with tail coverage provided **How to Apply** If you are a highly skilled and compassionate Physician Infectious Disease Specialist looking for a challenging and rewarding career opportunity, we encourage you to apply for this position.
