The New Jersey Tutoring Corps, Inc. is a leading organization dedicated to providing high-dosage tutoring for K through Grade 8 students in math and literacy to close learning gaps. We are seeking experienced and compassionate School Year Tutors to join our team and work with scholars in partnership with Roseville Community Charter School.

Job Summary

We are looking for highly motivated and dedicated School Year Tutors to work with small groups of scholars in grades 3-4 to build math and literacy skills. As a School Year Tutor, you will engage with scholars, complete daily records on scholar progress, use data to drive instruction, and communicate regularly with your site coordinator to provide optimum learning experiences for scholars. Key Responsibilities

As a School Year Tutor, your key responsibilities will include:
  • Engaging with scholars in grades 3-4 to build on existing mathematics and/or literacy skills
  • Completing daily records on scholar progress and site need using the tools provided
  • Using data to drive instruction and inform teaching practices
  • Communicating regularly with your site coordinator to provide optimum learning experiences for scholars
  • Participating in coaching from an instructional coach to enhance teaching skills
  • Using an asset-based approach in working with scholars to build on their strengths and interests
  • Being responsive and working collaboratively with other tutors and site staff to ensure a cohesive and supportive learning environment
  • Completing all training and professional development opportunities to enhance teaching skills and knowledge
  • Performing other duties as assigned to support the success of scholars and the organization

Essential Qualifications

To be successful in this role, you will need to possess the following essential qualifications:
  • Experience working with young children, preferably in a learning and teaching capacity
  • Standard certificate, certificate of eligibility (CE), or certificate of eligibility with advanced standing (CEAS) to receive the $40 hourly pay rate
  • New Jersey Certification of Criminal History (fingerprint form)
  • Experience with Google Suite functions, including Google Sheets and Forms
  • Professional skills include attention to detail, timely and proactive communication, and job preparedness
  • Reliable transportation to travel to sites

Preferred Qualifications

While not essential, the following qualifications are preferred:
  • Background in education or a related field
  • Experience working with diverse populations and in urban or underserved communities
  • Knowledge of curriculum design and instructional strategies
  • Experience with data-driven instruction and assessment
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
