Job Summary

We are seeking experienced virtual math tutors to join our team and support middle school students in grades 6, 7, and 8. As a virtual math tutor, you will work with students to develop their understanding of math concepts, build their confidence, and foster a love for learning. Key Responsibilities

As a virtual math tutor with Littera Education, your key responsibilities will include:
  • Indicating your availability to tutor, including days and times, without minimum or maximum requirements
  • Completing curriculum reviews for lesson materials to ensure you are familiar with the content
  • Tutoring students virtually in a 1:1 to 1:3 setting, using online virtual tools and technology
  • Building relationships with students and providing clear communication and interpersonal skills
  • Reviewing provided lesson content materials and adapting your teaching approach as needed
  • Impact a student's learning experience and make a positive difference in their academic journey

How We Schedule Tutors

At Littera Education, we use a platform to match tutors with students based on their availability, subject expertise, and student needs. Tutors set their availability in their tutor dashboard, and sessions are offered Monday to Friday, with times generally between 8am ET to 9pm ET. We prioritize building consistent student-tutor relationships, so we ask that you commit to your scheduled sessions to provide a strong and supportive learning environment.

Program Details

Our tutoring programs are designed to support students in grades 6, 7, and 8 who are working with upper elementary and early middle school math content. Tutors may also choose to select additional subjects and levels to work with K to 5 or high school students in other tutoring programs. We ask that you commit to your scheduled sessions to provide a consistent tutoring experience and build a strong tutor-student relationship.

Requirements to Apply

To be considered for this role, you must have:
  • Relevant experience working with school-age learners in some capacity
  • Relatively consistent ongoing calendar availability to support a session series from week to week at the same time with the same student(s)
  • Ability to effectively instruct and engage students with clear communication and interpersonal skills
  • A high comfort level with online virtual tools and technology, including a desktop or laptop, Chrome browser, video camera, and reliable/stable internet connection
  • Residency in the continental United States, Alaska, or Hawaii
  • A bachelor's degree is preferred, but college students with 1+ years of relevant experience are welcome to apply

  • Strong math skills and knowledge of upper elementary and early middle school math content
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to build relationships with students and provide clear instruction

  • High comfort level with online virtual tools and technology, including video conferencing software and learning management systems
  • Strong organizational and time management skills to manage your schedule and prioritize tasks

Compensation, Perks, and Benefits

As a virtual math tutor with Littera Education, you will be compensated at a rate of $18 per hour for non-high school algebra sessions and $22 per hour for high school algebra I session series. You will also have the opportunity to:
