Job Summary
We are looking for a highly skilled and motivated Part-Time Music Instructor to teach a variety of music courses, including Music Appreciation, Intro to Jazz, and applied lessons, as part of our Associate in Fine Arts (AFA) in Music program. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in music education, excellent teaching skills, and the ability to create engaging and interactive learning experiences for students of diverse backgrounds and skill levels. Key Responsibilities
- Provide classroom, online, and hybrid instruction to college students through lecture, demonstration, and laboratory exercises, handouts, responding to questions, and testing
- Prepare lesson plans and schedule classroom activities to ensure effective learning outcomes
- Develop and prepare supplement materials to enhance textbook lessons and engage students in the learning process
- Develop and prepare tests to evaluate student performance and provide constructive feedback to promote student growth and improvement
- Maintain accurate records of student attendance and performance, including class rosters, registration forms, pay sheets, attendance forms, and grade rosters
- Oversee the implementation of policies and procedures related to the required teaching area and adhere to CFCC policies and guidelines
- Assess the relevancy and impact of various lessons and recommend improvements as needed to ensure the highest quality of instruction
- Participate in field studies and assignments, travel with students to provide assistance and instruction as appropriate, and perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned
Essential Qualifications
To be considered for this position, you must possess the following essential qualifications:
- A Master's degree in Music or a Master's degree with at least 18 graduate semester hours in Music from a regionally accredited college or university
- Knowledge of classroom and laboratory instructional techniques and procedures, principles and procedures of academic and instructional techniques and procedures, and current trends, research, and development in the area of assignment
- Ability to interpret and apply College goals, objectives, policies, procedures, rules, and regulations, communicate clearly and respectfully, both orally and in writing, and establish and maintain cooperative-working relationships with those contacted in the course of work
- Strong organizational and time management skills, with the ability to maintain effective audio-visual discrimination and perception, make sound decisions, and respond to questions in a timely and professional manner
Preferred Qualifications
While not required, the following preferred qualifications are highly desirable:
- Prior experience in teaching at the post-secondary level, with a proven track record of success in creating engaging and interactive learning experiences for students
- Experience using Blackboard educational technology and other digital tools to enhance instruction and promote student learning
