Job Overview
We are inviting applications for a part-time Faculty Associate position in Dance, with the possibility of teaching in-person or online courses. As a Faculty Associate, you will have the opportunity to share your expertise, inspire creativity, and mentor students in a dynamic and supportive environment. This is a one-semester, non-benefits-eligible, fixed-term appointment with a maximum of 0.40 FTE. The salary will be commensurate with your qualifications and assigned teaching load.
Key Responsibilities
- Teach assigned Dance courses, which may include but are not limited to: DCE 123 Nonmajors Hip Hop, DCE 118 Yoga/Pilates, DCE 110 Argentine Tango I, and DCE 405 Writing the Creating Body
- Prepare engaging course materials, including syllabi, lesson plans, and assessments
- Evaluate student work, provide constructive feedback, and guide students in their artistic development
- Assist students with their academic and artistic goals, and provide support and mentorship as needed
- Participate in departmental meetings, events, and activities, contributing to the vibrant academic community
Essential Qualifications
To be considered for this position, you should have:
- Demonstrated experience in teaching dance, with a minimum of 3 years of teaching experience at the collegiate level
- Experience teaching course subjects/materials as listed in one of the courses mentioned above
- A strong passion for dance, education, and mentoring, with the ability to inspire and motivate students
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with students, faculty, and staff
Desired Qualifications
While not required, the following qualifications are highly desirable:
- Professional experience in the specific art discipline, with a strong portfolio of performances, presentations, and/or publications
- Experience teaching at the undergraduate and graduate level, with a deep understanding of curriculum development and pedagogy
- Knowledge of the local and regional disciplinary ecosystem, with connections to the broader artistic community
- Creative Activity/Scholarly research interests and achievements, with a commitment to ongoing learning and professional development
Skills and Competencies
To succeed in this role, you should possess:
- Strong teaching and mentoring skills, with the ability to adapt to diverse learning styles and needs
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively in a team environment
- Strong organizational and time management skills, with the ability to prioritize tasks and manage multiple responsibilities
- Proficiency in standard office equipment and software, including but not limited to: computer workstation/laptop, printer, copier, telephone, and associated computer/technology peripherals
