Job description
OrthoLegal is a rapidly expanding, woman/physician-owned medicolegal management company. We work with doctors, patients, and lawyers by providing physicians who are neutral and qualified for litigated workers compensation cases. Our beautiful headquarters are in Marina del Rey, California, with over 60 offices throughout the state, and growing rapidly. In our third year, we have 96 physicians working with the company.
We are seeking full-time and independent contractor historians to join our team. The Historian will reach out directly to injured workers to take a complete medical history and history of injury. Knowledge of Workers Compensation and Orthopaedic Surgery is mandatory. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in healthcare, Workers' Compensation, and leadership. Applicants must have prior experience in taking histories for California QME reports for physicians.
You are:
• An experienced QME historian with thorough understanding of California WC case law related to causation and apportionment
• Able to communicate effectively with applicants and write a detailed history
• Adaptable to our technology-driven work flow
• Highly organized and accountable
Responsibilities:
• Timely history taking in advance of in-person appointments
• Ability to efficiently get important details from injured workers
• Attention to detail regarding attorney cover letters, all prior injuries, and body parts injured.
• Continuous learning opportunities
• One on one communication with injured workers
• Quality assurance with minimal typographical errors
• Opportunities for growth and training of other Historians
Qualifications:
• Experienced California QME historian
• Must be able and willing to read cover letters to guide the history
• Authorized to work in the U.S.
• At least 3 years’ experience taking histories for QME reports for physicians in California
• Bilingual historians strongly desired, as over 50% of our injured workers speak only Spanish
• Also seeing those bilingual in English and: Mandarin, Cantonese, Tagalog, Farsi, Vietnamese, Armenian, and Russian.
Job Types: Full-time, Contract
Pay: $35.00 - $45.00 per hour
Expected hours: 8 – 40 per week
