Job Overview

As a Staff Data Scientist at blithequark, you will serve as the tech lead for all data science-related work, focusing on Customer Data Science initiatives that drive business growth and improvement. Your role will involve mentoring junior colleagues, implementing best practices, and collaborating with cross-functional teams to deliver high-impact projects. Key Responsibilities

  • Data Source Identification: Understand the concerned order of requirements and service level agreements, define and identify the most appropriate resources for required data, and perform initial data quality tests on extracted data.
  • Problem Formulation: Analyze business problems, identify and recommend methods to solve them, set data analytics goals and deliverables, and quantify business impact.
  • Analytical Modeling: Select suitable modeling strategies for complex problems, develop variables and functions iteratively, conduct exploratory data analysis, and identify dimensions and designs of experiments.
  • Model Deployment & Scaling: Work with MLOps to push ML models to production, continuously log and track model behavior, and identify model parameters that may require adjustments.
  • Code Development & Testing: Write code to develop specified solutions, create test cases, and contribute to code documentation and playbooks.
  • Applied Business Acumen: Evaluate proposed business cases, influence stakeholder decision-making, translate business requirements into strategies, and build and articulate business cases.
  • Model Assessment & Validation: Identify and review model assessment metrics, apply appropriate methods for model testing and tuning, and ensure testing data is documented and maintained.
  • Data Visualization and Storytelling: Identify and recommend suitable visualization tools, generate graphical representations of data and model outcomes, and build compelling stories to integrate multiple pieces of data into cohesive insights.

Essential Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Statistics, Economics, Analytics, Mathematics, Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
  • At least 4 years of experience in an analytics-related field, with deep knowledge and understanding of machine learning, statistics, and data science.
  • Strong programming skills in at least one of Python or R.
  • Ability to execute projects end-to-end, implement best practices in ML Ops and coding standards, and clearly communicate with business, product, and application partners.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Advanced degree in a related field, such as a Master's or Ph.D.
  • Experience working with large-scale data sets, cloud-based technologies, and agile development methodologies.
  • Strong understanding of business acumen, with the ability to translate complex algorithm evaluations into simple language and communicate effectively with stakeholders.
