At blithequark, our Risk Finance group plays a vital role in planning, forecasting, and evaluating global Loss Provision and Credit Reserves. As a Director of Data Science, you will be responsible for leading the strategic evaluation of credit metrics, credit provision, and reserve for Senior Management in Risk and Finance. Your expertise will help drive revolutionary information answers to provide strong forecasts and analytics for the wider Risk Finance organization.
**About blithequark's Risk Finance Group**
The Risk Finance group is a critical component of blithequark's Corporate Planning (CP&A) department. Our team is dedicated to providing credit-associated selection aid to Risk Management, local Finance, and business groups on underwriting, patron management, credit, and collections activities. We strive to deliver high-quality information and analytics to support informed decision-making across the organization.
**Key Responsibilities**
As a Director of Data Science, you will be responsible for leading the Global Data Strategy group and driving the following key initiatives:
* **Lead the strategic evaluation of AXP credit metrics, credit provision, and reserve for Senior Management in Risk and Finance**: Develop and implement data-driven strategies to inform business decisions and drive growth.
* **Own precise information assets/packages within Risk Finance, and become a subject matter expert of the applicable tools**: Troubleshoot issues, reconcile results, identify enhancements and automation possibilities, and train other customers to drive adoption.
* **Develop and maintain preferred and ad-hoc reviews used by Risk Finance and/or business partners; provide credit-associated analytical aid**: Create and maintain reports, dashboards, and other data visualizations to support business decisions.
* **Develop and present key analyses and recommendations to Senior Management**: Communicate complex data insights to stakeholders and drive business outcomes.
* **Build and maintain relationships across Risk Finance portfolio groups and with partners in Risk, Controllership, Tech, etc.**: Foster strong relationships with stakeholders to drive collaboration and achieve business objectives.
* **Provide selection-aid with a strong emphasis on growing analytics that identify trends and opportunities within the portfolio which can be used to optimize Business and Risk decisions**: Develop and implement data-driven solutions to drive business growth and minimize risk.
**Required Qualifications**
To be successful in this role, you will need:
* **Advanced experience working with a maximum of the following is required: SQL/Hive, Power BI/Tableau, Python/R, VBA, TM1**: Proven expertise in data analysis, visualization, and modeling.
* **Experience working with a sophisticated degree of Excel and PowerPoint required**: Strong skills in data manipulation, analysis, and presentation.
* **Experience in ML modeling is a plus**: Familiarity with machine learning algorithms and techniques.
* **Solid economic and analytical skills; ability to work with large units of data and draw significant conclusions, empowering our business partners to make smart, data-driven decisions**: Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
* **Superior attention to detail, alongside exemplary organizational and problem-solving skills**: Ability to manage multiple tasks and work under tight deadlines.
* **Must be results-driven and proactive with the ability to manage multiple tasks and work within tight timelines**: Proven track record of delivering results in a fast-paced environment.
* **Desire to work on ambiguous tasks, growing clarity while achieving successful and significant outcomes**: Ability to navigate complex problems and drive solutions.
* **A strong work-ethic and strong interpersonal skills, showcasing the potential to build and maintain relationships and successfully collaborate with team members to achieve goals**: Excellent communication and collaboration skills.
* **Master's degree in advanced mathematics or statistical discipline required**: Advanced education in a quantitative field.

**Compensation and Benefits**
The anticipated salary range for this position is $55.00 to $85.00 hourly + bonus + equity (if relevant) + benefits. Ultimately, in determining your pay, we will consider your location, experience, and other job-related factors.
