Our Risk Finance group is responsible for planning, forecasting, and evaluating global Loss Provision and Credit Reserves, as well as providing credit-related decision support to Risk Management, local Finance, and business groups. As a Director of Data Science, you will be part of a dynamic team that is dedicated to driving business growth through data-driven insights. **Key Responsibilities** As our Director of Data Science – Global Data Strategy Lead, you will be responsible for leading the strategic evaluation of AXP credit metrics, credit provision, and reserve for Senior Management in Risk and Finance. Your key responsibilities will include: * **Leading the strategic evaluation of AXP credit metrics, credit provision, and reserve**: You will lead the development and implementation of data-driven strategies to optimize business and risk decisions. * **Ownership of precise information assets/packages**: You will own and maintain precise information assets/packages within Risk Finance, and become a subject matter expert in the applicable tools (troubleshoot issues, reconcile results, identify enhancements and automation possibilities, and teach other customers to drive adoption). * **Developing and maintaining preferred and ad-hoc reviews**: You will develop and maintain preferred and ad-hoc reviews used by Risk Finance and/or business partners; provide credit-related analytical support. * **Developing and presenting key analyses and recommendations**: You will develop and present key analyses and recommendations to Senior Management. * **Building and maintaining relationships**: You will build and maintain relationships across Risk Finance portfolio groups and with partners in Risk, Controllership, Tech, etc. * **Providing decision-support with a strong emphasis on growing analytics**: You will provide decision-support with a strong emphasis on growing analytics that identify trends and opportunities in the portfolio which can be used to optimize business and risk decisions. **Required Qualifications** To be successful in this role, you will need to have: * **Advanced experience operating with a maximum of the following**: SQL/Hive, Power BI/Tableau, Python/R, VBA, TM1 * **Experience operating with a sophisticated degree of Excel and PowerPoint**: You will need to have experience operating with a sophisticated degree of Excel and PowerPoint. * **Experience in ML modeling is a plus**: While not required, experience in ML modeling is a plus. * **Solid economic and analytical skills**: You will need to have solid economic and analytical skills; the ability to work with big units of data and draw significant conclusions, empowering our business partners to make smart, data-driven decisions. * **Superior attention to detail, alongside exemplary organizational and problem-solving skills**: You will need to have superior attention to detail, alongside exemplary organizational and problem-solving skills. * **Must be results-driven and proactive**: You will need to be results-driven and proactive with the ability to manage multiple tasks and work within tight timelines. * **Desire to work on ambiguous tasks, growing clarity while achieving successful and significant outcomes**: You will need to have a desire to work on ambiguous tasks, growing clarity while achieving successful and significant outcomes. * **A robust work-ethic and strong interpersonal skills**: You will need to have a robust work-ethic and strong interpersonal skills, showcasing the ability to build and maintain relationships and successfully collaborate with team members to achieve goals. * **Master's degree in advanced mathematics or statistical discipline**: You will need to have a Master's degree in advanced mathematics or statistical discipline. **Considerations for Sponsorship** Depending on factors including business unit requirements, the nature of the position, value, and relevant laws, blithequark may offer visa sponsorship for certain positions. **Salary Range** The anticipated salary range for this position is $55.00 to $85.00 hourly + bonus + equity (if relevant) + benefits.
