The Product & Data Engineering team is responsible for end-to-end development for Disney’s world-class consumer-facing products, including streaming platforms Disney+, Hulu, and ESPN+, and digital products & experiences across ESPN, Marvel, Disney Studios, NatGeo, and ABC News. Job Summary: The Sports Interactive team builds systems that power content across a multitude of ESPN products and scales to millions of individual users. As a Senior Software Engineer, you will be part of a diverse and talented organization focused on building and maintaining complex web applications for ESPN. You will be a member of a team creating the world’s #1 sports products working with modern server-side and web technologies such as JavaScript, Node and React to deliver scalable and elegant solutions for new product features and core site architecture. Role Location: This is a Hybrid role requiring 4 days onsite (Monday-Thursday) in the following office locations: Bristol, CT Responsibilities and Duties of the Role: Build components and modules that are used by millions of fans around the world Bring our UI to life by connecting components to live APIs Partner with other engineering teams to solve complex problems while considering performance, scalability, caching, resiliency, and flexibility for expanding product requirements Test code through various means: unit tests, integration tests, performance tests etc Maintain a deep understanding of our core systems and how they interact with upstream and downstream dependencies. Responsible for fundamental platform performance, scalability, and resiliency Partner with stakeholders to refine requirements, and propose solutions to problems that span multiple teams Contribute to cross-functional troubleshooting of complex issues as needed Required Education, Experience/Skills/Training: Basic Qualifications Minimum of 5+ years of related work experience Extensive experience with JavaScript and JS Frameworks, such as React and NodeJS. Experience with full stack programming, including JavaScript/TypeScript/NodeJS, shell scripting and other similar technologies. Expertise with full lifecycle of application development, including best practices of unit testing, code reviews, documentation, etc. Motivated self-starter with the ability to learn and adapt to new technologies.
