About the Team and the Opportunity
Our Web Systems Engineering team consists of 29 engineers, including 2 consultants from Beacon Hill, who are dedicated to designing, implementing, and maintaining the infrastructure that supports our business operations. We are currently transitioning from proprietary tools to open-source solutions, with a focus on Ansible, and we need someone with the expertise to help us navigate this change. As a Windows System Engineer and Automation Developer, you will have the opportunity to work on challenging projects, collaborate with a talented team, and contribute to the growth and success of blithequark.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide Windows admin/engineering support and develop automation solutions using open-source technologies such as Ansible and Terraform
- Design, implement, and maintain Windows Server infrastructure, including provisioning, configuration, and deployment
- Develop and maintain scripts using PowerShell and other scripting languages to automate tasks and workflows
- Collaborate with the team to support the automation of Jenkins Pipeline and Ansible Playbooks for Windows OS provisioning
- Participate in the development and maintenance of GitHub repositories, including code reviews and contributions
- Troubleshoot and resolve technical issues related to Windows Server infrastructure and automation
- Stay up-to-date with the latest trends and technologies in Windows System Engineering and automation, and apply this knowledge to improve our infrastructure and processes
Essential Qualifications
To be successful in this role, you will need to have the following essential qualifications:
- 5+ years of experience in system engineering with Windows Server administration
- Strong knowledge of PowerShell and GitHub, with experience in public cloud automation using Azure or GCP
- 4+ years of experience writing scripts using open-source technologies such as Ansible or Terraform
- Proven track record of supporting automation for Jenkins Pipeline and Ansible Playbooks for Windows OS provisioning
- Ability to show examples of script development via GitHub or work samples
Preferred Qualifications
While not essential, the following qualifications are highly desirable:
- Experience with cloud infrastructure and migration
- Knowledge of other scripting languages such as Python or Bash
- Familiarity with agile development methodologies and version control systems
