About the Role

As a Staff Software Engineer on our Community Support Platform team, you will have the opportunity to influence every individual who travels or hosts on blithequark. You will work closely with a team of talented and diverse engineers to build solutions that improve specialist efficiency and drive business growth. Your technical expertise and leadership skills will be essential in shaping the technical vision and delivering scalable, efficient, and adaptable solutions that meet the needs of our business.

Key Responsibilities

  • Collaborate cross-functionally with product, design, and other engineering partners to implement product and business strategy and build novel products and features
  • Drive, lead, and contribute to the full development cycle: technical design, development, testing, experimentation, analysis, and launch
  • Lead engineers – both inside and outside your local team – in working out technical solutions and provide guidance on best practices and standards
  • Mentor other engineers in developing their technical and collaboration skills, fostering a culture of technical excellence and innovation
  • Sustain a culture of technical quality from design, through code review, to production operations, ensuring that our systems are reliable, scalable, and secure

Essential Qualifications

To be successful in this role, you will need:

  • 9+ years of relevant software development experience in a fast-paced tech environment, with a strong background in backend systems and large-scale service-oriented architectures
  • Experience with frontend or full-stack development, and a solid understanding of software engineering principles and practices
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively with teams across engineering, product, and design organizations
  • A passion for efficiency, availability, technical quality, and system quality, with a drive to continuously improve and optimize our systems and processes
  • A bachelor's degree in Computer Science or a related field, or equivalent experience

Preferred Qualifications

While not required, the following qualifications are highly desirable:

  • Experience with AI and automation technologies, and a strong understanding of their applications in software development and operations
  • Knowledge of cloud-based technologies and platforms, such as AWS or Google Cloud
  • Experience with agile development methodologies and version control systems, such as Git
  • A strong understanding of security and compliance principles, and experience with implementing secure coding practices
