Job Overview

We are currently seeking a highly skilled and motivated Customer Service Representative to join our team in supporting the Department of Education. As a Customer Service Representative, you will play a vital role in responding to incoming calls, chats, and emails, as well as making outbound calls regarding Federal Student Aid (FSA) Loan Servicing. This is a remote position, but you must live within 1 hour of Jacksonville, FL, and be willing to work onsite for up to one week. Key Responsibilities

  • Respond to incoming calls, chats, and emails from customers, providing timely and effective solutions to their inquiries and concerns
  • Make outbound calls to customers regarding Federal Student Aid (FSA) Loan Servicing, ensuring that all interactions are professional, courteous, and respectful
  • Utilize computerized systems, knowledge bases, and standard technology to respond to customer inquiries and perform job duties
  • Process requests received via general correspondence and notate accounts regarding actions taken in response to those requests
  • Provide feedback and input on call trends, processes, procedures, and training to help improve the overall customer experience
  • Support Contact Center expectations, as well as departmental and corporate policies and procedures
  • Maintain regular use of the feedback tool to give and receive constructive feedback on call quality and department tasks
  • Assist with Credit Bureau Requests utilizing established processes and procedures
  • Refer escalated calls or inquiries to appropriate levels as needed

Essential Qualifications

  • High School diploma or equivalent with 6 months of customer service experience
  • Must be able to speak and read English clearly, professionally, and fluently
  • Basic math and PC skills, including MS Office applications
  • Demonstrated excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to organize simultaneous tasks
  • Must reside in the U.S. and be a U.S. citizen
  • Must be able to pass a criminal background check
  • Must be available to support all FSA programs via reassignment between programs (moving from one program to another), as needed

Preferred Qualifications

  • Previous experience in customer service, preferably in a call center environment
  • Knowledge of Federal Student Aid (FSA) Loan Servicing programs and procedures
  • Experience with computerized systems and technology, including CRM software and chat tools
  • Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills, with the ability to think critically and outside the box
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build rapport with customers and colleagues
