**Job Summary**
We are seeking an experienced Patient Account Analyst II to join our CBO Customer Service team on a remote basis. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for performing a variety of registration, billing, follow-up, and collection functions for all payers, including self-pay. You will also verify insurance benefits, contact patients for necessary information, process financial assistance applications, and resolve inquiries related to patient accounts.
**Key Responsibilities**
* Perform a variety of registration, billing, follow-up, and collection functions for all payers, including self-pay
* Verify insurance benefits and ensure accurate and timely processing of patient accounts
* Contact patients for necessary information pertaining to registration, billing, and collection
* Process financial assistance applications and resolve inquiries related to patient accounts
* Post payments, adjustments, and denials to patient accounts and review accounts for outside collection or legal authorization
* Work with internal departments to obtain information for external requests, including refunds
* Act as a liaison to outside vendors and review debits, credits, refunds, bad debt, and contractual allowances for accuracy and process as applicable
* Reconcile electronic payment remittances and independently review assigned reports to ensure goals and deadlines are met
* Lockbox reconciliation and reporting
* Assist management with training new staff and obtain prior authorization for scheduled services
* Perform other duties as assigned
**Essential Qualifications**
* High school diploma or equivalent required
* Ability to accurately and independently solve problems by taking a basic skills test and scoring a minimum of 80%
* Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
* Ability to input and retrieve information from a computer, operate a calculator, fax machine, and copier
* Previous experience with computers and office applications
* Ability to move about the office and between workstations
* Ability to occasionally lift, move, and carry moderately heavy materials
* Commitment to exceptional customer service
* Strong organizational skills and ability to multi-task
* At least 1 year of experience in medical registration, billing, customer service, or collection
**Preferred Qualifications**
* Bachelor's degree in a related field (e.g., healthcare administration, business, or finance)
* Experience working in a healthcare setting or with a healthcare organization
* Knowledge of billing regulations and corporate compliance plans
* Experience with electronic medical records (EMRs) and practice management systems (PMS)
