Job Overview

We are seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Data Entry and Statistics Analyst to join our team at blithequark. As a Part-Time Statistics Analyst I, you will play a critical role in ensuring the accuracy, timeliness, and quality of sports data and information disseminated across various blithequark platforms. This is a remote work opportunity, allowing you to work from the comfort of your own home and contribute to the success of our organization.

Key Responsibilities

  • Guarantee the accuracy, timeliness, and quality of sports data and information disseminated by the Data and Analytics team at blithequark.
  • Work independently and collaboratively to deliver accurate and detailed breakdowns, clock-and-score, and other metrics and data in real-time, powering various blithequark products and productions.
  • Develop and maintain an in-depth knowledge of the Data and Analytics team's role in fueling blithequark's digital products and television productions.
  • Verify the results of your own work and that of others, performing with a consistently high level of attention to detail.
  • Contribute to production, operations, and initiatives across the newsroom, supporting newsroom leaders who are coordinating full-time and part-time staff.
  • Anticipate potential issues, both short-term and long-term, and provide possible solutions, communicating rapidly and clearly with stakeholders on these issues.
  • Play a proactive role in collaborating with stakeholders to develop or refine production processes.
  • Be an active participant in team and department meetings, seeking and responding to feedback on individual performance.
  • Stay informed about current office policies and procedures, adhering to blithequark's standards and guidelines.

Essential Qualifications

  • Working knowledge of teams, players, and the rules of various sports.
  • Full-time schedule availability, including evenings, weekends, and holidays.
  • Ability to quickly learn production processes that produce or maintain sports data driving blithequark's digital and television products.
  • Capacity to achieve a high level of content accuracy in time-sensitive production environments.
  • Ability to communicate confidently, both verbally and in writing, to production managers and colleagues about production issues and opportunities, often in a fast-paced newsroom setting.

Preferred Qualifications

  • 1 year of experience working in sports or statistics, ideally in media.
  • Knowledge of how sports data is used in media and research purposes.
  • Familiarity with blithequark products and productions.
  • Experience with Microsoft Excel and other Office products.
  • Experience leading or mentoring a team.
  • Ability to speak and write Spanish.
  • Experience using social media in a business or news environment.

Education Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent.

Preferred Education

  • Advanced degree or equivalent.
