Job Overview
As a Patient Account Representative II – Call Center/Customer Service, you will play a vital role in our Revenue Cycle team, utilizing your excellent communication skills to answer questions, obtain information, and provide support to patients, departments, insurance companies, and outside vendors. Your primary goal will be to ensure accurate reimbursement by updating and documenting financial data within our designated system while adhering to HIPAA compliance. You will be working in a fast-paced, dynamic environment, and your ability to multitask, think critically, and work independently will be essential to your success.
Key Responsibilities
- Respond to and make phone calls to or from hospital and/or physician group customers, providing exceptional customer service and support.
- Maintain required levels of productivity and quality while managing tasks to ensure the timeliness of analytic report resolution.
- Utilize identified and known resources to accomplish analytic report follow-up, including payor websites, provider service lines, analytics, and correspondence.
- Participate in A/R clean-up projects or other projects identified by the team, demonstrating your ability to adapt to changing priorities and deadlines.
- Takes ownership of assignments and other duties as assigned or requested, showcasing your leadership qualities and initiative amongst peers and coworkers.
- Communicate and listen effectively with internal and external customers, ensuring that you understand instructions and share knowledge in a clear and concise manner.
- Cooperate and interact with supervisors, peers, other departments, and all customer groups, demonstrating our commitment to service and patient satisfaction.
- Provide training to new or existing staff as directed by leadership, when necessary, highlighting your ability to mentor and support your colleagues.
- Work to identify ways to reduce calls or wait times, which will increase customer satisfaction, demonstrating your proactive approach to process improvement.
Education and Experience
To be successful in this role, you will need to have a High School Diploma or GED Equivalent. While not required, we prefer candidates with experience in one or more of the following systems or applications: Epic, SSI, Microsoft Excel, and Microsoft Word. Additionally, 1-2 years of previous customer service experience is preferred, although we are willing to consider candidates with transferable skills and a passion for learning.
Essential Qualifications
- Ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing, with internal and external customers.
- Ability to work independently, with minimal supervision, in a remote environment.
- General accounting and bookkeeping skills, with the ability to update and document financial data accurately.
- Strong customer service and interpersonal skills, with a focus on providing exceptional patient experiences.
- Knowledge of medical billing and medical terminology, with the ability to apply this knowledge in a practical setting.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience working in a call center or customer service environment, with a focus on healthcare or revenue cycle management.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office, including Word, Excel, and Outlook, with the ability to learn new systems and applications quickly.
- Basic knowledge of HIPAA compliance and regulations, with the ability to apply this knowledge in a practical setting.
