**The Role**
As a Data Engineer in our OAP department, you'll play a critical role in harnessing the power of data to drive business growth and improve operational efficiency. You'll work closely with cross-functional teams to design, develop, and implement data solutions that meet the needs of our business stakeholders. Your expertise will be instrumental in helping us make data-driven decisions, identify areas for improvement, and drive continuous innovation.
**Key Responsibilities**
• Locate and extract data from various sources to inform business decisions, develop models, and drive project development
• Clean and curate datasets by identifying new data sources, collaborating with stakeholders, and aggregating perspectives into meaningful hierarchies
• Stay up-to-date with emerging technologies and proactively identify new and innovative ways to communicate data and insights that meet business needs
• Support strategy development and project control engagements for business stakeholders and cross-functional teams
• Train and mentor colleagues on various skills and topics to promote knowledge sharing and collaboration
• Practice security-aware behaviors in all operational practices and procedures
• Demonstrate a team-first mindset with the success of our team and business partners as the top priority
• Be intellectually curious, ask questions, and communicate ideas effectively
**What You Need to Succeed**
• 3+ years of experience in a related field, with a strong understanding of data engineering principles and practices
• Proficiency in SQL and ETL/ELT patterns, as well as experience with Python, SAS, or other comparable tools and programming languages
• Ability to troubleshoot reporting database environments and work autonomously to manage multiple requests with varying timelines
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with a resilient and solution-minded approach to complex problems
• Consistently prioritize security and protection of self, others, and personal data
• Embracing diverse perspectives, thinking, and styles, with a strong commitment to inclusion and collaboration
• Possesses a high school diploma, GED, or equivalent, and is at least 18 years of age with authorization to work in the United States
**What Will Give You a Competitive Edge**
• Bachelor's degree or certificate in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Science, or other quantitative fields
• Previous airline experience, with a strong understanding of the industry and its challenges
• Working knowledge of and/or experience with cloud-based solutions (e.g., Azure, AWS, GCP)
